Sound Cascade is a barbershop chorus of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We currently have approximately 20 singers of all ages, and walks of life from South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa.
Sound Cascade Chorus is dedicated to the enhancement of musical skills and enrichment of the community through the performance of barbershop music. We host and/or participate in local shows, and perform at a number of community events as well as at nursing homes, assisted living centers and conventions. If you are looking for a unique musical experience for an upcoming event, Sound Cascade Chorus may be just what you are looking for. Our contact information is on our home page.
In addition to sharing our music with others, we benefit from our affiliation with Sweet Adelines International. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experiece. Twice a year, we get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop music. This gives us the opportunity to learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
Each spring, Sound Cascade has the opportunity to compete with other Sweet Adelines choruses at the Regional Sweet Adelines Convention. This offers a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together and sing, both competively and cooperatively. A panel of judges provides constructive feedback and ranks contestants based on score. The winners of the regional competition in both the quartet and chorus categories are invited to compete in the International Sweet Adelines Competition which is held in the fall.
Members of Sweet Adelines choruses may form their own quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Although Sound Cascade currently has no quartets, the chorus would welcome the addition of one.
Sound Cascade is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide, non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets. The headquarters for Sweet Adelines International is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
